Adobe Acrobat 3D Powering Collaboration (TT)
8/10/2006
Product manufacturing companies' pace of outsourcing into a global supply chain continues unabated, beyond the implicit objective of reducing manufacturing cost, but now more often for specialized product design expertise. In this environment, the right technology can bring critical rhythm to the collaborative interaction between individuals and teams working on new product development. Adobe's strong entrance into the product manufacturing industry for the communication and collaboration of 3D product information promises to reshape existing product development processes across the entire product lifecycle. The introduction of Acrobat 3D for the authoring and packaging of document-based 3D product content, teamed with the ubiquitous free Adobe Reader for distributed access of that content, will alter the landscape of 3D communication in both ad hoc and structured processes for all stakeholders in product development, regardless of their CAD application of choice.
Viewing of the 3D content in this document requires Adobe Reader 7.0.7 or later, although it can be opened with earlier versions of Adobe Reader.
